I know you’ve all been waiting for this one, but first, a couple of updates.

Updates

The Way of the Wielder, Book Four: I finished writing chapter 15 over the weekend, putting the word count at just under 50k. I anticipate the first draft coming in at around 170k, so I’m not quite a third of the way through. I’m hoping to make substantial progress this month, which would make my heart oh, so happy.

Mission Aboard the Longfin: ICYMI, I sent out a newsletter last month titled, “All Things Mission Aboard the Longfin”. There, I revealed the cover, talked a bit about the book, and offered the first chapter for your enjoyment. Check out that newsletter now, and be ready for the release on July 8, 2025 (in five weeks)!

Convergence of Connection: Okay, enough waiting…

——

Actually, let’s do a caveat first.

If you’re reading this blog post, I assume you’ve read the first two books in The Way of the Wielder series. If you haven’t, and you don’t like spoilers, I’d recommend you not read the rest of this blog post, and read those two books instead! You can find both The Way of the Wielder and Mysteries of the Material on Amazon (Paperback, Kindle, and KU options are available).

If you have read the first two books, or if you don’t care about spoilers, please read on.

Cover Reveal!

As with the first two covers in this series, there was no question about which cover artist I would use for Convergence of Connection. In addition to wanting consistency across the series, Kim’s work is just too stunning, and this piece is absolutely no different.

There were a couple of options for this cover: focus on Jaslan again, or try and figure out a way to incorporate both Jaslan and Jack as the focus. The latter was a little tricky, so we decided on the former.

The Great Wielder of All

As you can see, a major difference with this cover is that Jaslan is facing the reader. You see her in a more active stance, hands out in front of her, controlling the spheres of all four elements. Her face is resigned but determined, and her pulled back hair is blowing in the wind. Her clothes are suited for travel, and at her hip is a fox mask (which we see the front of for the first time).

This whole aesthetic for Jaslan is an important aspect of the story. You can infer a few things from it, of course (I’ll let you read into that on your own!), but the focus should be the elements. Now that she’s awakened all four, she’s learning how to control her abilities, and coming to understand why she has them in the first place. This is the crux of it all, and ties every other aspect of the cover together (even the title).

The Vignette

So… yeah.

Bad news: Jack’s in the Strands of Time.

Good news: He’s still a narrating character!

It might not look like much, but there’s so much depth here. Clearly, Jack has wings, and he’s floating over what looks like water, or glass. The sky is speckled with stars, and there’s a golden glow about the whole aesthetic that truly has nothing to do with the Strands of Time at all… But I’ll say no more about that.

With the previous two books, the vignette sought to bring about a bit of intrigue and complexity. This one certainly does that, but unlike with the previous books, I think this might be my favorite part of the cover. It’s almost too stunning for me to put into words just how much I love it.

The Background and Edging

Another major difference with this cover is that there are leaves and vines around the edges, rather than flowers. This hints at not only the setting of the story, but Jaslan’s healing journey. Around the title is some swirling darker shades, which adds further intrigue to what’s in store for Jaslan (and the other Great Wielders).

The final difference is that there are very clearly two colors at play: green and gold. The green may be obvious (if you’ve been picking up on the themes of the covers so far), but the gold, and the way it flows up from the vignette into the background behind Jaslan… that’s intentional, double-layered, and is—in many ways—the crux of the whole book.

And there you have it! The cover for Convergence of Connection. It’s full of foreshadowing, with tones of healing and hope. It’s stunning, and I can’t wait for you to get your hands on a copy in just seven weeks!

Don’t worry, that’ll fly by.

The Blurb

But if you need a bit of a teaser, here’s the blurb. You’ll be able to find this on the Books page, under Convergence of Connection in the future.

No human has ever entered the Strands of Time. Until now.

When Jack fell through the portal in the sea, he knew his death was certain. What he didn’t know was that he and Kizunae would have one final job to do: find the lost goddess and return her to the Material Existence. But as he journeys through time, he’s distracted by the pain of separation from his truest love.

Jaslan struggles through the loss of her best friend and lover. Her grief runs deep, but she must learn to put it aside, and to lean on her friends while they search for the answers they seek.

In the village of Cendis, the Great Wielders awaken their final elements, and learn many truths, including the location of the Forgotten Mountain. There, they discover how to complete their task. But one Idol stands between them and saving the world from destruction.

When Material and Time are on the same side, Jaslan holds the power of gods in her hands—and death is anything but certain.

Convergence of Connection will be published on July 22, 2025. If you plan to buy it for your Kindle, you can pre-order it now! If paperback is your preferred medium, I’ll do another blog post that day.

Until next time, be well, and stay creative.
