August 17, 2026

How is it already mid-August? Summer has flown by—the whole year has flown by—and while I’ve done a good number of summery things, I haven’t seen one rainbow, nor have I gone to get ice cream nearly as often as I’d like. It’s a shame, really.

But on the weekends that remain, there are two opportunities to buy books from me in person. Before I get to that, a few updates.

Updates

Rise of Iron (Tredania Chronicles, book one): I still have a few outstanding queries, but I’m starting the process of self-publishing this book. I’ve secured a cover artist and editor, both of whom are quite familiar to my readers. I’m so pleased to announce that Kim (cover artist) and Hannah (editor) are joining me for this new series. Their work on The Way of the Wielder series was incredible, and I can’t wait to work with them again.

Their work begins in September, so stay tuned for a cover reveal and ARC reading opportunities in October.

Unnamed (Tredania Chronicles, book two): I’ve made good progress on this book since my last update. It’s now sitting at just under 30k words, which is about 25% complete. The plot is coming along nicely, and the character development is fantastic, if I do say so myself. I look forward to getting back to this later this week.

Standalone project #1: I’d been thinking about the next set of scenes in this story, so I decided to work on this last week. Another chapter is complete, and I’ll take a few days this week to write another (chapter three). The inciting incident happens in chapter three, so once that’s done, I’ll put it aside before things pick up. I’m happy with how it’s going, and expect to make quick progress when I return to it in a few weeks.

Several other stories are stewing around in my mind, in varying stages of ideation. As they come together, I’ll outline them and add them to the queue. I have this feeling the next year is going to be prolific, which is fantastic.

You know what else is fantastic?

Supporting local authors in person!

Supporting Local Authors & Artists

There are three opportunities to come out and show your support over the next couple of months:

  • Last Chapter of Summer Book Fair
    • When: Sunday, August 23 from 10am-4pm
    • Where: Sandlot Event Center, 56 North Road, Sandown, NH 03873
  • Little Readers Fest
    • When: Sunday, August 30 from 10am-4pm
    • Where: Tanger Outlets, Tilton, NH
    • Note: This event is designed for younger readers, so I will focus on Mission Aboard the Longfin. I will bring my remaining stock of The Way of the Wielder series (just in case), but won’t have time to restock prior to this event.
  • Spines & Spice Fall Festival
    • When: Saturday, October 24 from 10am-4pm
    • Where: Sandlot Event Center, 56 North Road, Sandown, NH 03873

I may sign up for another event in November or December, just in time for the holidays. After all, books make great gifts, and I have five (by then, six) to choose from. More on that in the coming months.

Support Me and Others

While I’m incredibly grateful for the support I receive at events like this, it’s important to note that many others put so much work into making them successful. And I don’t just mean other authors (although there are sometimes 30+ other authors there).

Organizers and vendors put in countless hours making sure these events are fun and worthwhile for everyone. Bookish Bliss Mobile Bookstore, in particular, has done a spectacular job organizing their events. If you come to either Last Chapter of Summer or Spines & Spice, please take a moment to thank a team member for their efforts.

No matter which event you attend, I encourage you to not just visit me, but walk around and enjoy the atmosphere of readers coming together. It’s a great experience, and you might just find a new author to binge read. I know I did!

That’s all for now. Next time, I’ll have a more in-depth look at my next series, The Tredania Chronicles. I’m really looking forward to sharing this story with you all in the near future.

Until then, I hope to see you at one of the events above.

Be well, and stay creative.
